Abdullah Omar imagePhD candidate

Abdullah joined the PhD program in the Department of Economics in February 2023. Prior to that, he received his master's degree in Economics from Ritsumeikan University, Japan. He also received his MBA degree in Finance from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Professionally, he has been working at the central bank of Bangladesh since 2010.

In a broader context, his research interests include energy and environmental economics, climate change, development economics, and applied econometrics. A central theme of his current research is evaluating the impact of global warming on energy poverty and energy inequality.

Abdullah has published articles in international referred journals, namely Energy Policy, Energy Research & Social Science, and Journal of Economic Structures. He also served as a reviewer of peer-reviewed journals and book proposals, including World Development Perspectives, The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Palgrave Macmillan, International Review of Economics, and Statistics, Politics and Policy (SPP), among others.
