Research

Member of the Respiratory Group, Dunedin School of Medicine. MD thesis from Nottingham on the topic of 'Safety aspects of beta2 agonists'.

Research interest in the therapeutic and adverse effects of inhaled beta2 agonists in the management of asthma. In particular the development of tolerance to regular beta agonist use. Also involved in clinical studies examining the effects of inhaled steroids in asthma.

Current active research:

  • Efficacy of drug delivery by delivery device in the treatment of asthma.
  • Studying reasons why asthma control deteriorates in University students studying at Otago University.
  • Clinical interests in tuberculosis and lung infections, non-invasive ventilatory support.
