Robin Fraser began his medical career as a country doctor in Australia. His interest in medical research led him to gain his PhD in the field of lipoprotein metabolism from the Australian National University. He took a posdoc at the University of Chicago before becoming a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney.

Robin was appointed as an Associate Professor at the Christchurch School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 1974.

Robin’s contribution was recognised with an Emeritus Professorship, and he kept his interest in the liver sieve as visiting professor to the University of Sydney.
