Professor Jo Baxter welcomes staff and students to the ALM Teaching Awards ceremony.

Professor Jo Baxter welcomes staff and students to the ALM Teaching Awards ceremony.

Te Kura Whaiora o Ōtepoti, Dunedin School of Medicine staff and students recently celebrated the efforts of the outstanding teachers and professional staff who have contributed to the Advanced Learning in Medicine (ALM) programme over the past year.

Dean of the School Professor Jo Baxter says, “This is one of our key events of the year. It’s great to come together to recognise our talented and hard-working teachers, and other dedicated staff who support our students.”

The annual awards are a collaboration with students. They decided some of the award categories and presented some of the awards on the night.

Professor Baxter says the award categories involved everyone, including administrators, trainee interns, house officers, clinical and academic staff and others.

“This reflects how many different groups and people are involved in supporting our medical students.

“Medicine is a rewarding, but demanding, pathway and our staff do a wonderful job of equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.”

The ALM awards ceremony was held at the Barnett Lecture Theatre on 25 September.
