A selection of board games is now available to play on campus – giving students and staff the opportunity to unwind with friends and reconnect away from electronic devices.

The games – Chess, Scrabble, Connect 4, Jenga, Trivial Pursuit, Dominos and packs of cards – are available in the Union Building Mezzanine Floor and Food Court, the Marsh Study Centre and the Hunter Café.

There are also table tennis tables set up and ready for use in the Link.

University Union Operations Manager Martin Jones says the games, which were introduced in May, are a joint initiative between the Union and the Otago University Students’ Association (OUSA) to enhance the student experience on campus.

“Students are so busy with their study, this gives them the opportunity to unwind and relax with their friends and engage with each other with a fun game.”

The games are also available for staff and visitors to the campus to play.

Mr Jones says if the games prove popular, they will look to expand the initiative and put them in other locations around the campus.
