RealClimate can get a bit technical but both this site and Skeptical Science do a good job of summarising significant or controversial new studies. As you can see if you click 'Start Here' on RealClimate, there are lots of sites covering climate science basics.

The UK Government Office for Science is another useful resource.

The Oxford University Begbroke Science Park free online course covers the basics of climate prediction.

You can also watch David Archer's lectures on climate change for non-science majors at the University of Chigago on Youtube - just search for David Archer, University of Chicago.
