A critical examination and utilisation of research methods and analysis relevant to conducting high quality research in tourism and related fields.
The aim of this paper is to further students' ability to develop and carry out tourism research using qualitative and quantitative methods and analysis. The paper is designed to provide students with practical understandings of the conduct of tourism research and to help students develop a critical view of research methods and analysis. Students will undertake assignments and project work that will allow them to gain training in the main methods being taught. The paper is aimed at students who are interested in undertaking primary research towards their dissertation and will lead to their competence in primary research design, analysis and critique.

- This paper consists of two components:
- One half of the paper focuses on research design and quantitative research methods
- The other half of the paper introduces the methods and techniques for conducting qualitative research
- Teaching Arrangements
One 3 hour lecture per week, inclusive of two computer labs.
