
Background and interests
Dr Rona Carroll is a GP working in youth health and a senior lecturer in the Department of Primary Health Care and General Practice. Rona has been working clinically in youth health since 2012 and has interests in sexual health, mental health, transgender healthcare and primary care HIV PrEP prescribing. Rona's clinical work is mainly in gender affirming healthcare and she is keen to improve access in primary care and help educate health professionals in this area. She has formed transgender health peer support groups locally and nationally. Rona is a member of WPATH and PATHA and is on the PATHA education committee.

Research activities
Rona's research activities are in medical student education and confidence in providing care to LGBTQIA+ patients, improving primary health care access for rainbow youth and various aspects of gender affirming healthcare and hormone therapy.
