Research interests and activities

Dr Fraser's research primarily focuses on Takatāpui/LGBTIQ+ communities' experiences of housing and homelessness. Their PhD was the first in Aotearoa to explore experiences of homelessness amongst people who identify as Takatāpui/LGBTIQ+. Their postdoctoral fellowship explores housing instability amongst this community, using both qualitative and quantitative data in order to guide policy and practice. They are also involved in projects looking at homelessness and Housing First, children and young people's experiences of the housing support system, and public housing in Aotearoa.

Dr Fraser has a background in political science, and their previous research has looked at modes of political participation amongst LGBTIQ+ youth. They have experience working in parliamentary politics, and have a strong activist background. As a member of the LGBTIQ+ community, they are passionate about promoting equity and have been working and volunteering in the community for over a decade.
