Research Interests and Activities

Courtney Steele is a nutrition researcher currently completing her PhD with the Burden of Disease Epidemiology, Equity and Cost-Effectiveness Programme (BODE3). Her PhD involves modelling the health gains, cost impacts, and cost-effectiveness of dietary and physical activity interventions targeting children and adolescents. She recently completed her Master of Dietetics investigating dietary patterns associated with meeting the WHO free sugar guidelines, sources of free sugars, and the impact of free sugar intake on macronutrient distribution in New Zealand adults. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Foodservice Management at the University of Otago. Courtney's research interests include the role of diet in the prevention and treatment of non-communicable disease, and public health nutrition interventions and policies.
