Course Load and Minimum Unit Requirements
Generally, a one-term course taught for three hours a week is worth 3.0 credits. Similarly, a full-year course taught for three hours a week is worth 6.0 credits.
Faculty of Arts and Sciences
- Minimum Course Load- 4 courses (12 units) per semester (recommended)
- Maximum Course Load- 5 courses (15 units) per semester
School of Business
- Minimum Course Load - 3 courses per semester (recommended)
- Maximum Course Load - 5 courses per semester
Accommodation & the Cost of Living
Accommodation
The Queens Housing Office does not arrange housing for students, nor own properties, but they will assist students in their search. Many students do not get their housing arranged until after their arrival to Kingston. In previous years students have been able to find a place generally within 3 - 5 days upon arrival.

The University

The City of Kingston
Nestled on the northeast shore of Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, historic Kingston is a thriving community of 141,000 residents, boasting a superb quality of life due to its big-city amenities, waterfront location and rich natural landscape.
More than anything, Kingston is a university town, home to 25,000 students studying at three post secondary institutions, including Queen's. Within a ten-minute walk from campus, students can access all that our eclectic downtown core has to offer: shops, restaurants and cultural resources, waterfront pathways and the 19th century buildings and homes that signify Canada's "Limestone City".
Located midway between Toronto and Montreal, within two hours drive of Ottawa, and 40 minutes of the U.S. border, Kingston is easily accessible by air, bus or train.
