Scientists, students and professional staff flocked to Biochemistry's BIG13 (ground floor seminar room) to celebrate the achievements of the past year, forget their frustrations, and to gorge on strawberries during the Department's annual end of year party.

Head of Department for the past three years Professor Sally McCormick gave a lovely speech thanking everyone for their hard work throughout 2022. Then our soon-to-be HOD Professor Peter Dearden led the assembled crowd in a standing ovation for all the hard work Sally has put into leading the Department, particularly throughout the pandemic.

Associate Professor Peter Mace announced the winners of this year's student paper competition*, PhD student Jordon Lima led everyone in a hearty waiata – Tutira mai - and then Sally led some party games. Did someone manage to find the gnome in the end? Well hidden Jackie!

Thanks once again to the fabulous Shar Snoeck, professional practice fellow extraordinaire, for organising the end of year party for a seventh (and reportedly last) time.

Seasons greetings for Christmas and the New Year!
Ngā mihi o te Kirihimete me te Tau Hou!
