From its formation in the 1980s, the Christchurch Heart Institute has been internationally recognised for its work on the humoral regulation of human circulation in health and cardiovascular disease, with particular recognition given to its work in the biology of cardiac natriuretic peptides.
In December 2020, CHI was the recipient of the University of Otago Research Group Award. The history of CHI was presented at the ceremony.
