Jasjot Maggo imageJasjot Maggo is a PhD student supervised by Professor Richard Gearry, Nicole Roy and Simone Bayer.

She completed her Masters in Medicine from University of Sydney in 2011 and has been involved in clinical research since. She moved to New Zealand 7 years ago and has worked on multiple research projects within University of Otago.

Her research is looking at the impact of diet on the gastrointestinal physiology in adults with functional bowel disease (FBD). FBD has a significant negative personal and social impact. Treatment of FBD is challenging; people with FBD believe diet changes to be effective in managing their conditions. The study is currently recruiting participants for a clinical trial investigating the impact of habitual intake of two green kiwifruits on abdominal comfort and general wellbeing of individuals with constipation predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome and functional constipation.
