This University of Otago, Christchurch scholarship is intended to support those nurses who wish to commence or are on a Nurse Practitioner or Designated Nurse Prescriber pathway:
This funding covers one of the following 30-point papers per student, for Semester Two, 2024 only
It is intended to support Registered Nurses who work in Primary Health Care and Community Care Teams (i.e. employed by PHOs, GP practices, Hauora Māori and Pacific community providers, or aged care providers)
The list of courses that are eligible to be funded are:
- NURS 405 Health Assessment and Advanced Nursing Practice
- NURS 413 Primary Health Care – Nursing Urban/Rural
- NURS 416 Nursing - Applied Pharmacology
- NURS 426 Nursing Gerontology
- NURS 429 Therapeutics for Advanced Nursing Practice
This scholarship does not cover travel, accommodation, textbooks, equipment, meals, or release time.
Applicants can work with their employer to access workforce development enablement funding which has been provided by Te Whatu Ora at a regional level to support equity of access, for example travel for the paper’s compulsory study days, and to enable the primary and community care workforce to take up these opportunities.
