Les is professor emeritus in the Department of General Practice. He also continues to work clinically in the same Christchurch practice he joined more than 35 years ago.
Les remains actively involved in health system redesign, in education, and in clinical governance. He is a long-term advocate for the promotion of rational, effective and patient-centred care, delivered though strong interdisciplinary teamwork.
As a past chair and currently as adviser, Les continues his long involvement with the Pegasus Health Charitable group of companies, one of New Zealand’s largest primary health network organisations. He was one of the leaders who developed the highly regarded Pegasus Health interdisciplinary continuing education programme which has been running successfully in many centres for more than three decades. He currently sits on the GPNZ national executive as well as on the leadership team of the Canterbury Clinical Network.
