Background
Matea is Ngai Tahu and Ngati Kahungunu.
A University of Otago Medical Graduate, Matea has worked as a General Practitioner for a long while, and has engaged with working alongside indigenous people and the health systems in which they sit.
Matea is an active member on Māori advisory boards that support health developments in Christchurch, including the new Partnership health PHO and Pegasus Health.
Matea has also completed a Certificate in Clinical Teaching from the University of Canterbury.
