Kaiāwhina - Dr Yawen Chen and Associate Professor Steven Mills. The role of Kaiāwhina (Māori student support) provides a valuable direct link to Māori students. It also facilitates and fosters closer links with Kaiāwhina network in Division of Sciences, primarily to ensure that Māori students can access all related resources and maximum assistance.
Our Pacific Students Representative is Associate Professor Ali Knott. Ali is not Pasifika himself, but his wife, Mele Taumoepeau is Tongan, and is currently the Associate Dean Pacific at Otago. This has given Ali an appreciation of issues faced by Pasifika students at the University, and he is happy to talk to any students who have questions about their course, or would like other advice about their study.
We have a Computer Science Women's Association.
