Research

My research focuses on public health and health promotion.

I focus on three interlocking areas:

Programme research: how do we know what we do matters? This research incorporates needs analysis and intervention development, implementation feasibility, and evaluation of impacts and outcomes.

Practice research: who comprises the public health workforce and what do they do in practice?

Education research: what and how do we teach so that our graduates are able to practice well, achieve equitable outcomes for Māori, and improve the public’s health.

To answer these questions, I use many tools from both quantitative and qualitative research in a mixed methods approach. I mostly specialise in qualitative research methods.
