Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research (EDOR) Centre members will give presentations at the inaugural Dunedin School of Medicine Research Symposium on Friday 29 August, 2015.

Professor Barry Taylor, EDOR member and Dean of the Dunedin School of Medicine, will introduce the plenary session, to be given by University of Otago Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne. This follows a mihi by EDOR advisory board member, and Research Manager Māori, Mr Mark Brunton.

Associate Professor Rachael Taylor, co-director of EDOR and guest speaker at the symposium, will discuss early life approaches to preventing obesity.

Michelle Jospe, dietitian and EDOR postgraduate student working on the SWIFT study, will highlight one of the strategies being used in the study to assist participants adhere to their chosen diet, termed hunger training.

Associate Professor Barbara Galland, a new member of EDOR and guest speaker at the symposium, will talk about the adolescent sleep crisis.

In addition to the research symposium, the DSM is also holding a postgraduate peer networking workshop and a postgraduate student poster evening.
