Continuing Medical Education (CME)

CME meetings take place monthly. Please email cme.rmip@otago.ac.nz for further details.

Meetings may qualify for points under the RNZCGP MOPS scheme.

An invitation to join a Medical Humanities Peer Group

Language, that most human invention, can enable what, in principle, should not be possible. It can allow all of us, even the congenitally blind, to see with another person's eyes.

— Oliver Sacks

There's a long-standing affinity between doctors and writing. Join us in exploring how literature treats the human condition and how this can make us better doctors. The Medical Humanities CME Group meets every month in the Department of General Practice for conversation about the readings, tea, coffee etc. There may also be an opportunity for participants to practice their own creative writing about their medical work if they desire.

Please register your interest in joining the group by contacting Dr Katherine Hall via email: katherine.hall@otago.ac.nz

The College has indicated that it is very happy to support this group and will register it for MOPS points as with any other peer group. If you wish to register for MOPS points please include your Medical Council number in the email. Thank you.

Check out the new Medical Humanities blog Corpus

Corpus, an online forum for conversations about medicine and life, publishes a wide range of perspectives on health and medical practice, especially reflective or creative work.

Corpus provides exemplars of the kinds of issues and topics covered in the HSFY optional eighth paper and the Humanities Selectives programme.
