Research
Stuart has worked extensively in both health and government as a policy analyst, a Private Secretary to three Ministers of Health, as well as community worker, health promoter, and researcher.
Most recently, Stuart worked in business development for a health IT vendor across New Zealand and Australia supporting integrated models of care. During a previous stint in the Centre for Health Systems, he contributed to Dangerous Enthusiasms, the first book on e-government in New Zealand.
Stuart’s research interests in health system improvement are motivated by the Triple Aim, as well as the integration of health and the wider social sector around the needs of patients and families. He is also interested in the use of health information technology, particularly user-centred design.
At the Centre for Health Systems he is currently working with the Canterbury Community Pharmacy Group on outcomes measurement in integrated care, and with Counties-Manukau Health on the best evidence for implementable change.
