Kia ora and a warm welcome to the University of Otago College of Education, New Zealand’s oldest and top-ranked university in Education.

The College is an exciting and vibrant place with an international reputation for excellence in educational practice.  We engage in cutting-edge research, outstanding teaching, professional leadership and service to the wider educational community.

We offer programmes for people who want to start a career as a teacher in early childhood, primary or secondary education, enhance their skills and professional learning through Master's and EdD programmes; and for those who wish to study education as a scholarly endeavour, the PhD programme.

For those desiring to pursue a career in teaching, our Master of Teaching and Learning offers a postgraduate pathway to teacher registration for individuals who want to enter the profession after completing an undergraduate degree in another field.  At the undergraduate level, the Bachelor of Teaching offers early childhood and primary education programmes and also a Te Pōkai Mātauranga o te Ao Rua programme with a strong focus on bicultural education at the primary level.

Whatever your interest, we welcome you to inquire about what we have to offer at Otago.   And for those of you whom are already students with us, my best wishes to you as you enter this great field of education.

Ngā mihi nui.
