Professor Rachael Taylor, EDOR Director and Head of the Department of Medicine at the University of Otago, spoke about her group's research on childhood obesity and sleep at the recent Australia and New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS) 2021 meeting. She also co-chaired a session at the virtual conference.

Silke Morrison, dietitian and EDOR PhD candidate, presented her research assessing the effect of mild sleep loss on dietary intake in children, as part of the DREAM study. Silke was selected as a finalist for the early career researcher award.

Professor Boyd Swinburn, a member of the EDOR advisory board, gave a plenary presentation on the implications of the combined impact of obesity, under-nutrition and climate change for Australia and New Zealand. In a separate presentation he made some predictions for what lies ahead in terms of global obesity.

The Australia and New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS) was established in 1991. It is a scientific organisation of medical practitioners, dietitians, scientists and other health care professionals in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Region, who are interested in obesity research, treatment or public health initiatives directed at the prevention of obesity.
