Your University staff username allows you access to various online resources within the University, such as:

Your University student username allows you access to various online resources within the University, such as:

You receive a University student username and password when you enrol as a University of Otago student.

Removal of access to IT services for former University students.

Non-University staff and student username and password (external)

If you need to access University of Otago IT services, but are not a student or staff member, you can apply for an external University username and password. An external username and password will give you limited access to the University of Otago's online resources.

Please use the AskOtago Service Portal form to apply if you also need access to Library E-resources. If you are not in the University payroll system and have a non-University staff external username, you are required to attach a signed and authorised agreement from their Head of Department, Dean or Pro-Vice-Chancellor that you are engaged to provide teaching, clinical supervision or research services to the University.

Generic (role-based) University username and password

You can get a generic (role-based) username and password set up for a function or role, rather than for an individual, within the University of Otago.

Changing my password

You can change your own password here (if you know what it is)

The Self-Service Password Management system also allows you to change your password if you've forgotten it or had it reset by ITS. You can set up secret challenge questions and answers to choose a new password.
