Depression and Treatment Resistance

About

Professor Carlo Marra (Dean) and Professional Practice Fellow Emma Smith traveled New Zealand this year, sharing an overview of the School of Pharmacy, and delivering a continuing education workshop on depression and treatment resistance. The workshops have been well attended by pharmacists in Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton, Auckland and Invercargill and now, we complete these workshops in our hometown of Dunedin. We offer a Zoom webinar to all pharmacists that have not been able to attend our workshops and would like to learn more about depression and treatment resistance. PSNZ ENHANCE accreditation is available to all attendees.

Professional Practice Fellow, Emma Smith

Professional Practice Fellow at the School of Pharmacy, University of Otago, Emma Smith arrived in New Zealand in 2015 from the United Kingdom where she worked as an advanced clinical pharmacist, specialising in mental health for eight years.

'Based in a tertiary hospital working for Leeds and York Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust, she worked with a team of 14 pharmacists dedicated to looking after people with a wide variety of mental health conditions from eating disorders to schizophrenia, dementia to psychiatric intensive care.

Now, she is passing on her knowledge to the wider sector, initially in respect to treatment-resistant depression.' PharmacyToday, November 2017.
