Overview

Our preliminary experiment shows a correlation between immune cell infiltration and the severity of colonic inflammation in mice expressing a mouse analogue of Δ133p53 isoform, Δ122p53.

In this project, we aim to identify the cellular source of inflammatory mediators that lead to the activation and recruitment of immune cells to the inflamed bowel. It is suitable for postgraduate students who have a solid background in immunology and gut inflammation.

Students with research experience in laboratory mouse manipulation and monitoring, tissue dissection/digestion, and histological analysis are desired.

Depending on the student’s performance and the availability of research funding, this project could be continued for a higher degree.

Previous experience in laboratory mouse handling is essential for a MSc degree and above.
