Overview

A prominent New Zealand poet and literary figure, Charles Brasch (1909–1973) founded and was the editor of Landfall from 1945 to 1965.

A collector and patron of New Zealand paintings and painters, and a major benefactor of the University, he established the Hocken Library endowment fund.

Originally planted adjacent to Marama Hall, the tree was transplanted in 1982 to a plot along Leith Walk, near the ITS Building.
