The University holds full graduation ceremonies in Dunedin each year in May, August and December. Students who have completed the requirements for a Postgraduate Diploma or Masters degree may attend these ceremonies. Postgraduate Certificates are awarded "in absentia" i.e., students receiving Postgraduate Certificates cannot be presented with the certificate at a graduation ceremony.
The Christchurch campus holds a postgraduate presentation/prizegiving ceremony in December each year. This is not a full graduation ceremony, but students can elect to have Postgraduate Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters degrees or PhD degree certificates presented at this presentation ceremony. Students can attend either a Dunedin graduation ceremony or the December Christchurch presentation ceremony - they cannot attend both.
Postgraduate Certificate students have the option of attending the Christchurch December presentation ceremony or receiving their certificate in the post.
Information regarding graduation is emailed to all finalists in August / September.
All students need to complete an application for the award of their qualification before it can be either presented to them or posted ("in absentia").
