Gratia et Veritas – Grace and Truth

Ko te toa i a tini, i a mano o te takata — It is the bravery of a multitude, of thousands of people.

Located just outside the student quarter, Knox is an easy 15-minute walk through the Botanical Garden to campus. The 260 bedrooms and shared facilities are spread across the grounds – from heritage to modern buildings, and stand-alone cottages to the main accommodation ‘Tower’ block.

The main social hubs of the college are the Junior Common Room and Great Hall with a grand piano and full-size billiards table. Multiple smaller common areas set up for games, movies and studying – there’s even a Buttery common room, with a full kitchen to do some baking, a music room, small gym and a college Chapel for meditation and reflection.

Residents can live at Knox for multiple years and applicants from students at various stages of their academic studies are welcome.

One of Knox’s greatest strengths is its location. Being slightly removed from the main campus means we enjoy more space, excellent facilities, and a truly unique environment that captures the essence of Ōtepoti. We’re right next to the beautiful Dunedin Botanic Garden, which becomes part of most students’ daily walk to class. And just a stone’s throw away is Signal Hill with scenic walking tracks and some of the best biking trails in the city.
