The External Engagement Division is responsible for raising the profile of the University and attracting high quality domestic and international students to study at Otago. The Division embraces a global outlook and leads and promotes activities to increase engagement, both nationally and internationally, and seeks to build lasting relationships with key stakeholders. The Division includes Development and Alumni Relations, Centre for Asia-Pacific Excellence, Communications, International, Marketing, Schools Liaison, Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships and the Auckland Centre.

The Development & Alumni Relations Office assists University divisions and departments in maintaining and strengthening relationships with former students, who continue to benefit from their Otago experience long after studying here.
The Auckland Manager develops professional relationships with key industry and international education stakeholders, and alumni, within the Auckland commercial and research sectors.
Centre for Asia-Pacific Excellence
CAPEs is a university-led centre of excellence enhancing New Zealand’s economic, trade, political and cultural relationships with North Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
The Communications Office provides media advisory services for divisions, schools and departments as well as acting as the first contact for external media, providing press releases and up to date contacts.
The International Office is responsible for the recruitment, admission and pastoral care of all international students; and administers the Otago Global Student Exchange Programme.
Marketing Services provides a range of marketing support to divisions, schools, and departments, and has expertise covering marketing strategy, design, advertising, website design, event management, content, and publications.
Pacific Community Engagement Manger
The Pacific Community Engagement Manager is based in Auckland and is responsible for building relationships with Pacific communities in the largest Polynesian city in the world.
The Schools’ Liaison Office coordinates the visits of the University's liaison officers to all secondary schools in New Zealand.
Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships
The Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships office manages the University’s scholarships for all those beginning studying at undergraduate, first-year level.
