The Dunedin Energy Study is an annual research collaboration between the Dunedin City Council and the Centre for Sustainability at the University of Otago. The study takes stock of the energy inputs into the city of Dunedin at annual intervals. This is analysed by fuel, by source, and (where information is available) by end-use. Greenhouse gas emissions from energy consumption are also assessed.

The Centre for Sustainability also has produced reports for 2018 and 2019 on electric vehicle uptake in Dunedin.
