Helen’s research roles have included:

Helen’s Shoulder Fellowships were completed in Christchurch and the Australian Shoulder Research Institute in conjunction with the Queensland University of Technology. During this time, Helen completed multiple projects that focused on shoulder pathology. These include:

  • Massive Rotator Cuff Tears: Validating the use of the Goutallier classification at the medial scapular border as a method of determining repairability
  • Australian National Joint Registry - Reverse shoulder arthroplasty in the young and preoperative glenoid morphology and CT scanning in reverse shoulder arthroplasty
  • National Joint Registry UK - Perioperative complications in revision shoulder arthroplasty
  • Glenoid Bone and Humeral Bone loss in Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty
  • Acromioclavicular Joint reconstruction techniques
  • Use of planning software in reverse shoulder arthroplasty to predict clinical range of motion
  • Core Outcomes in Acromioclavicular Joint Surgery – Chief investigator of an international Delphi study to develop a core outcome set for ACJ trials
  • Surgical rib fracture fixation: systematic review of effectiveness, assessment of current UK practice, and development of a core outcome set
