Professional Practice Fellow
Kay has been a midwife since 1978, and has worked in a variety of midwifery settings over the last 38 years, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
She was a Lead Maternity Carer for 18 years in the Greater Christchurch region and also worked as a core midwife within the Canterbury District Health Board, in both primary and secondary/tertiary facilities.
Kay is a member of the Professional Conduct Committee for the Midwifery Council of New Zealand, an Expert Witness for both the Health & Disability Commissioner and the Accident Compensation Commission and has been a member of the Midwifery Standards Review Committee for the New Zealand College of Midwives.
She is also a Midwifery First Year of Practice Mentor and is serving a second term on the Clinical Board of the Canterbury District Health Board representing the midwives of the Canterbury region.
Kay's current role with the University is Professional Practice Fellow, Midwife Tutor, where her main responsibility is to give a midwifery perspective to both 5th year medical students and doctors undertaking the Diploma of Obstetrics.
