Mr Boyle joined the University Council in late 2022. He has extensive public sector management and governance expertise and has held several leading roles in key government agencies including as Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development, and the Department of Internal Affairs.
In addition to being Pro-Chancellor, Mr Boyle is Convener of the University Council's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee and Chair of the People and Culture Committee, and is a member of the Audit and Risk, Campus Development, Digital Technologies and Finance and Budget Committees.
