Learning Outcomes

Successful completion of this paper will equip students to

  1. Develop a critical understanding of the general rules, standards, principles, tensions and policies of the law governing contracts
  2. Develop an ability to recognise the difference between rules, principles, standards and judicial discretions
  3. Acquire an understanding of the underlying policies and ongoing development of the law relating to contractual obligations, including associated liabilities
  4. Develop the ability to interpret and apply contract statutes and use the respective techniques required to apply rules, principles, standards and discretions effectively
  5. Develop the ability to interpret contractual documents
  6. Develop the ability to read and analyse cases
  7. Be able to reason through and argue a legal position
  8. Develop the ability to apply their knowledge to novel situations
