Students who successfully complete the paper will:
- Critique and synthesise theoretical frameworks in rural health and nursing practice.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of rural health care and health promotion philosophies and the contribution of these to advancing nursing practice.
- Appraise research and information appropriate to the implementation of evidence-based practice with the aim of providing excellence in rural health care nursing.
- Evaluate rural health care nursing models for practice.
- Apply advanced individual/population/community assessment skills as relevant to own practice.
- Apply principles of cultural safety and be reflexive to client, community/whānau/families and social issues in practice.
- Demonstrate an understanding of effective collaboration, interdisciplinary communication and leadership in decision making and governance of service delivery to population group(s) in own practice.
- Work within legal and ethical frameworks in the provision of rural health care nursing and in relation to national guidelines, policies and protocols.
