    The principles of organisational governance and data-informed decision making, including collaborative governance, data governance and the importance of evidence-informed and ethical decision making.

    This course will focus on exploring the interconnected nature of governance and decision making, specifically ethic, evidence based, data-informed decision making. It is specifically designed for non-technical senior leaders, decision-makers and governance professionals to help them engage with the principles of good governance as well as AI and using data responsibly to support their decision-making. This course will help develop a critical understanding of the role of governance and decision making to address dynamic changes in business environments. It will also introduce students to the value of data to help support effective governance and decision making to arrive at solutions that address complex organisational problems.

    On completion of your study of BDBA913 you are expected to be able to,

    • Understand governance functions in the modern world especially in the context of Social Development Goals, when a strong collaboration among state, communities and business is required
    • Understand how data could be used for analysis and to inform decision making
    • Understand the value proposition of data informed decision making
    • Identify various perspectives used in governance and decision making research
    • Identify opportunities to close the gap between decision makers and technical experts
    • Choose perspectives commensurate with own work and research objectives
    • Appreciate the importance of the effective use of data in a range of situations within organisations
