Overview
Legal aspects of ethical and other issues in medical practice and research, such as the status of the foetus, alternative methods of reproduction, informed consent, confidentiality, death and dying, cadaveric transplantation.
This paper engages with the legal issues that arise from the provision of healthcare. In particular, we explore how the law governs: the standard of care provided by medical professionals, consent to medical treatment, confidentiality and privacy, the allocation of healthcare resources, the ownership of bodily material, the beginning of life, and the end of life.
