Limitation on entry into this course
a) Every MUSI 440 student must receive Departmental Permission to be allowed into this paper.
b) Entry into the programme may also be determined by teacher availability.
c) Cannot be credited to a degree if MUSI443 has already been passed in the same instrument/voice.
d) With permission, students may switch from one stream to another – e.g. having completed MUSI 341 with a B- grade a student may be permitted to take MUSI 440instead of MUSI 443. However, as with any enrolment for the x40 stream, this requires Departmental Permission, and they can still be refused entry.
e) Performance music is taught in a sequence of papers running from 100 to 400-level in a cumulative skills-based learning sequence. It is therefore expected that students will learn their performance discipline continuously from one year to the next.
Students who take a break in their studies of a year or more may be required to re- audition to check that they are still at the standard necessary for the paper. Students who have taken a semester’s break in their studies may also be requested to re-audition. For information regarding auditions please see this page.

By the end of the course, having been guided through a course of technical and musical study especially designed to meet your individual needs, you should have an appropriate command of your instrument/voice and will be more capable of achieving expressive musical results to a higher level than in MUSI 340. You will also have an enhanced understanding of the repertoire for your performance subject area.
