Students who successfully complete this paper will be able to:
- Critically integrate principles of science communication theory with non-fiction creative practice such as science and nature writing to generate original work.
- Evaluate the importance and implications of including diverse perspectives, including those from Māori, Pasifika and other minority or underrepresented populations, in ethical and inclusive science communication.
- Critically analyse various approaches to science communication, in terms of their effectiveness, impact and suitability to different audiences.
- Apply advanced knowledge of narrative elements to produce science communication that is accessible, engaging and culturally responsive.
- Adapt scientific content for distinct audiences by tailoring language, tone, style and medium to suit different communication needs and preferences.
