A supervised project involving research and leading to the production of a research report.

SENG 580 involves the study of a topic in software engineering of interest to the research community. The results of the study - including both a summary of the existing research or the existing technology of interest as well as a description of the theoretical, experimental or practical investigations that were undertaken and validated - are to be presented in the form of a written dissertation at the end of the year. Overall, the work should provide a contribution to the understanding of the software engineering field and should also demonstrate the student's capability of carrying out research and providing constructive criticism and skills in reporting the results of such work clearly and accurately.
