Current issues in freshwater ecology related to the management and conservation of rivers and lakes. Topics include disturbance, biomanipulation, climate change, biomonitoring and biodiversity.
Students will engage with and discuss current topics in freshwater ecology, and present a seminar and review article on a topic of their choice.

- Paper Structure
Tutorial sessions examining topical issues in freshwater ecology, with formats including presentations, discussions, debates, and a field trip. Students also select a topic of interest to research in more detail for an oral presentation and review article.
- Teaching Arrangements
Tutorial sessions led by teaching staff will address topical issues in freshwater ecology in a variety of formats. Students will give presentations and participate in discussions about basic and applied concepts in freshwater ecology. Students will also independently research a topic of their choice subject to approval by the course co-ordinator. They will present their findings to the class followed by discussion and feedback, then will prepare a review article synthesising the literature on their topic of choice.
