Course fees are fully funded by Te Pou national workforce for addiction and mental health for CBT training through the University of Otago. Acceptance to the course secures funding, with no further application required. Places are limited so please apply early.

Studying Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at Otago combines focused teaching, online learning, supervised practice, and assessment. You will take part in three one-week teaching blocks, held in Wellington or online, with tutorials between block weeks to support your learning.
The subject is grounded in the practical use of CBT in your usual clinical casework, so you can connect theory directly with professional practice. Individual supervision from clinical psychologists with specialist CBT expertise helps you build confidence, reflect on your work, and develop your skills. Teaching is led by experienced clinical psychologists, and the subject includes theoretical work, assignments, and a final exam at the end of October.
Otago’s fully-funded postgraduate CBT programmes are designed for mental health professionals who wish to add CBT to their existing skills for understanding and treating common mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and psychotic disorders.
