The Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research Centre acknowledged World Sleep Day 2023 to highlight the importance of sleep for our health and wellbeing.

Here is how EDOR is promoting sleep throughout sleep awareness month:

New publications from The DREAM study

Results from The DREAM study, involving several EDOR researchers, have been published in March 2023 and highlight the effects that not enough sleep can have on our children.

The papers, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and JAMA Network Open, have shown that just 40 minutes less sleep per night resulted in increased calorie intake and significantly lower health-related quality of life:

EDOR researchers wore their pyjamas to celebrate World Sleep Day and were captured by the ODT napping at work!

Professor Barbara Galland, an EDOR sleep researcher, encouraged people to consider the importance of their slumber hours:

"Just like eating well and exercising, sleep really is a behaviour that is foundational for your physical, mental and social wellbeing."
