Cardiovascular disease genetics

Research

My research is on understanding the mechanism by which genetic variants contribute to cardiovascular diseases. Numerous genetic variants that are associated with a range of cardiovascular diseases have been identified, however, many of these are located in non-coding DNA and have no assignable target gene. I aim to investigate which genes are affected by these genetic variants, and how the variants regulate the expression of these genes.

    Research areas:

  • Gene regulation
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • 3D chromatin interactions
  • Zebrafish as an animal model
