Research interests

Anthony Butler's research is at the interface of clinical medicine and the technical sciences of physics and computing. He has been working in the field of photon counting CT since before 2010. His research includes community imaging with MARS scanners and in-hospital scanners from other vendors.

Currently he and his collaborators are applying MARS to problems in community imaging, particularly orthopaedics. In addition, his research includes pre-clinical imaging for heart disease, cancer, drug development, and molecular imaging. MARS technology research spans particle detector physics , scanner development, medical mathematics, AI for image processing and data visualisation.
