Idioms of distress: Wellbeing and mental resilience in displaced peoples, refugee populations and global mental health
2019 De Carle Distinguished Lecture
Lecture seven: Professor Alison Phipps, UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts (University of Glasgow)
This lecture will present work from four contexts internationally where psychotherapeutic access to trauma services is non-existent but other resources are marshalled by affected populations – Ghana, Gaza, Uganda, Zimbabwe. Focusing on migratory languages and arts it demonstrates how Global Mental Health frameworks may be expanded.
Co-hosted by the Centre for Global Migrations, Centre for International Health, Dunedin School of Medicine and the Otago Medical School
Please note that this is also a keynote lecture at the Migration, Health and Wellbeing conference. Should you wish to register as a delegate for that conference, please visit the conference website.
