- Research summary
- I have research interests in stroke, in particular uncommon causes such as venous infarction and haemorrhage.
- Teaching
I co-convene the ALM 4 medicine and older persons health block in Wellington and am a member of the UOW curriculum sub-committee and the Student Progress Committee.
I supervise postgraduate clinical trainees and have supervised at Master’s level.
- Memberships
- I am a member of the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley Serious Events Review Committee, the Simulation Steering committee, and chair the New Zealand Acute Stroke Simulation Course Steering Committee. I am also a member of the European Stroke Organisation Simulation Education Committee. I have also been a recent member of the overseas trained physicians committee with the RACP (until May 2025) and continue to work with the RACP and MCNZ on assessing OTP experience for work in New Zealand. I have been on the Australian and New Zealand Stroke Organisation Conference organising committee for 3 years and co-opted as a member of the Organisation’s Committee for 2024/2025.
Research
- Recent success as a co-applicant for an HRC grant in AI imaging in hyper-acute stroke
- I collaborate with the international CVT consortium and have been involved in a number of international clinical trials including the ongoing Librexia trial and EVACUATE
- I regularly offer Summer Studentships
- I serve on the editorial board as stroke editor for Advances in Clinical Neurosciences and Rehabilitation
