University staff have access to vaccinations against key infectious illnesses that they may be exposed to for their work.

There is no cost to staff or departments for COVID‑19 and flu vaccinations.

Other vaccinations are a departmental expense.

COVID-19

At this stage we won’t be able to provide this service, however we are aiming to reinstate the programme potentially later in 2024.

Flu

This is offered free of charge to all staff on an annual basis.

Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington campuses

Dunedin

Where: University Union/Link Building, Mezzanine Level – look for signs and flags.

When: First clinic is 9 April 2024. Clinics will be on Tuesdays and Fridays, except Friday, 26 April. Last clinic is on 30 April.

Flu vaccination pop-up clinic – last opportunity

We are running a final flu vaccination clinic on Thursday, 2 May, 8:30am-2:30pm in the Hunter Centre Atrium (G.33). No appointment necessary.

Before your appointment

To help this process run smoothly, please:

  • Fill out your consent form and bring it with you:
    Influenza Vaccination Consent Form (PDF)
  • Remember it would be very helpful if you had your NHI number / University ID / driver’s licence with you. If you do not have an NHI number, let the clinic know when you arrive.
  • Please wear short-sleeved clothing so vaccinators can access your upper arm/shoulder.
  • Be prepared to wait for 5–20 minutes after the vaccination (wait time is longer for your first flu vaccination).

Hepatitis A

Recommended for staff who have the potential for exposure to human faecal contamination.

Hepatitis B

Recommended for staff who have the potential for exposure to blood and body fluids. This is a series of three injections at 0,1 and 6 months.

It is recommended that prior to commencing the immunisation, there is a blood test to establish the immunity status, and also post immunisation to establish if there has been seroconversion.
